This is my Top Ten list. Maybe obvious and boring but definitely essential.
1. 15 gallons of water plus 2 water bottles 2. 2 tubes of high-spf sun screen 3. 2 tubes of chap stick 4. 2 flashlights with extra batteries 5. Goggles & sunglasses 6. Multiple bandannas for multiple purposes (dust mask, hankie, napkin, wash rag, etc.) 7. Comfortable, durable, light and breathable footgear with a change of socks for each day (I use Magnum Swat boots) 8. First aid kit with bandages, antibiotic ointment, Tylenol, burn salve, and moleskin 9. Warm clothes for the night time 10. Approx. 2,500 calories for each day with plenty of carbs, salt, fat, and some protein that’s snackable plus additional cooking food in case I’m up for that
Some redundancy for items I absolutely must have without fail. Things will get lost or broken, guaranteed.
The one thing I didn't think to take last year, that I will definitely take this year, is a sewing kit. (Day 1, while trying to assemble a shade structure, my boyfriend accidentally ripped apart a seam. We finally found a neighbor who lent her sewing kit to us, and I managed to sew the shade structure back together, and miraculously it held until the end of the burn.)
