i'm looking for patterns for making a jacket and pants... i dont want to pay for them though because im possibly the cheapest man alive....
are there some websites that have free patterns... the ones ive seen always want money..... fuck that i'll just go with out one and save my five bucks and look like a retard... not like the guy in the orange furry coat doesnt say that already!
1) You could probably make a pattern based on some old garment of yours whose fit you liked, but no longer wear. Cut the old garment apart on the seams, and then lay the old pieces on top of the new fabric & cut the same shapes.
2) thrift stores are often awash in clothing patterns. You might find something really wonderfully crazy.
I'm with Savannah on this. Just cut down an old pair of pants and use the pattern they make. Even if they are a little too small/large, it's not that hard to adjust the pattern if you know about how much you need to change the size. And it's easier to figure out a pattern from an existing garment anyway, unless you are better schooled in sewing terminology than I am. They use lots of big words on those patterns that I don't understand. Me no like big words. They hurt my brain.
It's my job to educate Sparkle Ponies...I'm not nice about it...don't be a Sparkle Pony and we'll get along just fine.
Don't forget to leave yourself a seam allowance on the new fabric you're cutting.
Lay the pattern piece on the new fabric, and chalk-trace not only the outline but then perhaps an inch bigger than the shape of the pattern on all sides. The smaller outline is probably what will fit, but you need that little extra outside space so that you have room to sew (or let it out if you need to/make it too snug).
