So I was surfing the BM site and it looks like they are gonna offer gate sales again this year. As of right now if the tier system is honest, they have sold less than 32,000 tickets this year.
What a different experiance....for the 3+ year Vets, will this increase the yahoo population?
I dont think the lack of gate sales last year stopped the yahoo factor. I think these days its more of an asshole factor. From what I have heard and what little I saw the lack of gate sales just created a bunch of headaces, often for folks that weren't yahoo at all but rather non-internet types and some folks that got jammed up with a bad ticket.
Last year I had thought that the cancellation of gate sales would have been good but it really wasn't. There were a couple "good" burners that missed out for no other reason than having a tight budget in life and relying on the ability to go last minute and snag a ticket at the gate. Theres no way we can get rid of the yahoo.. I am trying to devise ways to get yahoos to participate more when I catch em on the playa. In the past i thought they should be shunned but now I'm evolving to think that we should try to integrate them more and maybe help them see what our community is really about.
nah bells... the yahoos are a suprisingly organized group of ppl. you gotta think... it wa only just last year that they closed gates right? noticed no great % diff of asshole to d-bag than other years... asshole being good and d-bags being bad... fuck it... BORG is prolly tying to just get as many tix sold a possible. if this trend continues... it may be the end of b-man as we know it! just think as soon as 2011 we may need to make other plans for labor day... we've gotten close before.... i know year it will happen... there is a thread worth posting up in.....! What would you do if Burning Man was cancelled!
Never fear, if you've (seriously?) procrastinated *that* badly, and you haven't gotten your tickets yet, you'll be able to purchase them at the Box Office at the Burning Man Gate this year.
They cost $360 at the gate. So you're better off getting them online or at one of the ticket outlets. Just sayin'. But hey, that's up to you.
"Oh, and contrary to what was pasted into the Transportation Edition of the JRS, tickets ARE available at the Box Office onsite for 2009, but only until 11:59 p.m. PST (midnight) on September 3. So there."
Not my fault they're a bunch of godless, pot-smoking hippies who can't get their facts straight. Damn kids with your flipfloppin and your hippity-hop music...
