...I didn't do anything special or different to my feet before, on or after playa, and I was fine. The playa tried to kill me in many, many other ways.
I need a new water bladder for my backpack. I hated sucking on that fucking thing, my freakin' jaw hurt by the end of the week. Anybody got a particular type of valve suckysucky that is easier to use and won't leak?
And there's no sort of joke about me sucking and fucking you could make that would be better than all the ones in my head, so stay on topic.

What do you have now? My first was a platypus bladder and nozzle but since i got my camelbak, with the big bite valve, i prefer that. It also has the "ergo-lock" or some shit which means i can turn the valve off and not even have the bite valve.
It's weird how the valve is closed until a ridiculous amount of sucking takes place, then BLAM! right in the pus.

I se the same setup.. what i like about the shutoff is blowing the tube back into the bladder and closing it off so the next drink is cold without havin a warm first sip.
I also have a covered bite valve so i dont have to worry about my bite valve gettin contaminated.

...whatever crap came with the backpack. I hate backpacks. Anyways. So, look for a 'big bite valve."
...also make sure your feet are in good repair and start riding your bike a little bit if you don't already. your feet and ass will thank you!
YES! Slather those puppies up with Vaseline and keep them covered with socks and boots at all times! Wish you could do the same with your hands. Got the gnarliest hangnails last year. All kinds of shredded skin all around the nail. I guess you could wear gloves, but that's just not cool at all, is it? Good times!
While I understand the horrible 'playa foot' syndrome is nasty, I gotta say that I walked in sandals and/or barefoot nearly every day last year. Yeah, I put lotion on at night (if I remembered to, that is), but I didn't have any problems. Then again, I walk barefoot or in sandals 95% of the time anyway, if I can get away with it. I have callouses of steel.
For those with soft soles, listen to Dinnie - cover those suckers up!

It is that time of year, staggers! As a reminder, please bring more water than what you think you need.
Here's what I brought last year (2011): 6 gallons of personal (only for me) drinking water 4 gallons for miscellaneous usage (cleaning, cooking, etc)
I ended up only using 3 gallons of drinking water and 2 gallons of miscellaneous water for the 7 days I was on the Playa.
This year (2012 - Fertility), I will be bringing a birgin. I will be adding 3 more gallons to my list.
I will also be bringing a bag full of Salt Sticks (salt capsules), vitamin C, and electrolyte/amino acid endurance powders. I'm not sure if I can afford to pass these out freely, but I will try to reserve a number of these to gift out to fellow staggers and other wanderers of the Playa
I drink a lot of water already, I am constantly drinking a 32 oz filled bottle & just refill it throughout the day, I'd say minimum five times. So that means I'm already drinking over a gallon a day now... should I plan on that doubling out there? Usually camping in the summer, we take 1/12 gallons a day.. I was thinking I'd up mine to 2 ~ so that's a minimum of 14 gallons I'll need to bring. Does anyone have any handy tips on getting that much water out there? Should I just buy all 1 gallon jugs, or is there a better solution I haven't tried yet?
I wouldn't worry about drinking any more water, just keep up the normal routine. Keep an eye on your mood and general health. Headaches, being quick to angry, those can be signs of dehydration. So can fatigue but that could also just be the environment as a whole. It's a good idea to bring a clear pee jug to check the color of your urine. Little harder for a lady, but don't worry, just visit Pee Funnel Camp.
Most people simply stock up on their water in Reno at the Walmart or other store. They should have the 2.5 gallon "suitcases" which is typically the cheapest. I would suggest getting at least one gallon jug and refilling it so you can put it in a cooler for cold water.
